In A First, This Assam College Introduces Farming In Its Curriculum To Connect Students To Roots

Aspire Junior College located in Udalguri district of Assam has introduced agriculture in their curriculum where the students learn and participate in the entire process of harvesting crops.

Education in recent times has evolved from the four concrete walls of a classroom to open-air classes which imbibe the lessons of how the environment is a crucial part of our everyday lives. Our planet is already suffering our uncontrolled usage of resources and its high time to step back and act on this grave situation.

With the advent of modern-day farming techniques, the conventional practice of agriculture is just somewhere lying in the history books. But, not letting go off this old tradition of harvesting crops, Aspire Junior College located in Udalguri district of Assam has introduced agriculture in their curriculum where the students learn and participate in the entire process of harvesting crops.

The Junior College has introduced a practical class where the students sow seeds, tend to the crops and later, harvest them which is making them aware of how our farmers toil every day in the fields and how the work is strenuous which requires a great amount of energy and toiling under the sun and rain.

This initiative by the College will not only give the students first-hand experience in farming but also it will boost their all-round development.

Assam is primarily an agrarian economy where agriculture has a key role to play in pushing forward the economic growth trajectory. Agriculture and the allied sectors have a crucial role in the development of the State Gross Domestic Product.
