    Ahead Of I-Day, Vigil Upped In Guwahati, Other Major Train Stations In NE

    Nine railway employees from various divisions of the NFR will be awarded on the I-Day celebration for their prompt action helping avert train accidents in the last few months.

    The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has enhanced vigilance across the major train stations of the Northeastern (NE) states in the run-up to the Independence day celebrations.

    According to reports, an alert has been sounded in all the stations to avert any untoward situation and round-the-clock track patrolling in the vulnerable stretches are being conducted by the GRP, RPF and Railway staff.

    Keeping in view of the footfall, the security check at the Guwahati railway station, the largest railway station in NE, has also been enhanced with deployment of fully armed Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF), RPF personnel on shift duty at the station. At present about 30 GRP personnel are keeping a hawk-eye at the station on each shift.

    Other than this, frisking of passengers/luggage with metal detectors, anti-sabotage checking via dog squads are being undertaken. The CCTV cameras installed at the stations are also being monitored.

    Also, there have been instructions to keep a check at the dustbins, cloakrooms, suspicious parcels and monitor the parking lots, additionally the coolies, vendors, taxi drivers and so on are briefed to report to the railway authorities on receipt of any suspicious persons/activity.

    Meanwhile, as many as nine railway employees from various divisions of the NFR will be awarded on the I-Day celebration for their prompt action helping avert train accidents in the last few months.
